Chad Clifton to Start in Playoffs

The Marshall Newhouse era at left tackle is now officially over. Coach McCarthy announced today that Chad Clifton will be protecting Aaron Rodgers’ blindside throughout the playoffs:

“Chad Clifton will be the starter,” said McCarthy. “Marshall’s done an excellent job. We won a lot of games with Marshall Newhouse, but Chad Clifton is the starter. There won’t be no gray area for that.

“In the same breath, Chad, he’s got a little more work to do, and we’ve got the time to get it done. I’m encouraged with the progress he’s made, and as long he can stay healthy through these next couple weeks.”

With Bulaga returning to the mix as well, the starting offensive line will be: Clifton, Lang, Wells, Sitton, Bulaga. Sounds like music to our ears. Rodgers should see improved protection and with it, more time to dissect opposing defenses. Add to this mix Greg Jennings’ return to practice on Wednesday and a healthy Randall Cobb, PackerInsanity feels confident that the Packers’ offense will simply be unstoppable.
